August Krogan-Roley’s Empty Coats with text by Neil Clements, explores the human condition that continues to obsess over the tribal nature of branding and identity. Krogan-Roley uses carpet collage as a medium to describe these semiotic interests through parallel histories of nomadic tapestries and the heraldry traditions in coat of arms. The work aims to highlight the internal and external forces of these symbols and their imprint from the canon of image making.
